A roller door moves vertically and coils around a drum above the opening. Because it does not travel across the ceiling on horizontal tracks, it can be a useful solution where the ceiling area needs to remain clear or the opening is better suited to a rolling curtain.
Roller doors are widely used on garages, rear access points and practical residential openings. Their compact operating path can leave more of the ceiling available for lighting or storage, although adequate room is still required above the opening for the rolled curtain.
The opening, side room and headroom should be measured before selecting the door. This determines whether a roller door is suitable and what track, drum and opener arrangement is required.
